Deformed Virasoro algebras, matrix models and supersymmetric gauge theories

Abstract:The Alday-Gaiotto-Tachikawa (AGT) correspondence allows a wide class of 4d supersymmetric gauge theories (class S) to be studied in a dual 2d CFT (Liouville/Toda). In particular, the gauge theory partition function is identified with a 2d CFT correlator, hence hiding a Virasoro/W symmetry. In this talk, I will discuss how a similar correspondence arises for supersymmetric gauge theories in other dimensions and diverse backgrounds, in which case the dual symmetry algebras are trigonometric or elliptic deformations of Virasoro/W algebras. Both sides of the correspondence can conveniently be studied through matrix models, which are derived from supersymmetric localization on the one hand, and from the free boson representation of the deformed algebras on the other.
